Karnataka is a state in India which is famous for it’s for culture, heritage and also for the most beautiful scenic places. It is one of the states in India which hosts so many natural beauties like beaches, sand, greenery, rainy ghats, coffee estates,water falls, misty mountains, ancient temples, monuments and even the royal palaces.
I belong to Karnataka. After staying in Delhi for a past few years, now I am back to Bangalore. Off late I am a lot on a wanderlust and what better option can be than holidaying in my own state !! So, I just went down the memory lane and tried to recall a few of my favorite places which are nearby Bangalore and wanted to visit a few of them again. Here, I have shortlisted a few destinations you can also visit a places according to your mood for holiday like weather you want beaches, mountains, national parks etc. Lets discover more….
Coorg and Chikmagalur
Coorg and Chikmaglur are famous for coffee plantations and two of the most popular hill stations in Karnataka. These hill stations are perched on the Western Ghats mountain range with forests,serene environment, lush green forests, green valleys and tall mountains. You can also visit habbe water falls. In coorg you can also visit Talacauvery and cauvery river.
Hampi and Hospet
Hampi is the most famous destinations of Karnataka and known for its cave temples, gateways, forts, inscriptions,sculptures and group of Monuments. The ruins of Hampi and monuments are the most popular. You could also visit nearby Hospet and the famous Tunga bhadra dam.
Belur and Halebidu temples
Belur was the early capital of the Hoysala Empire With Halebidu, these two places are one of the major tourist destinations in Karnataka. The main attraction in Belur and Halebidu are Chennakeshava temple and Hoysaleswara temple, some of the finest examples of Hoysala architecture. It is famous for black stone carved temples.
Gokarna and Karwar for beach
Beach at Gokarna and sea beach of Karwar are two of the most wonderful beaches in Karnataka, You can visit Shiva temple along with the rocky mountains and the Arabian Sea. Gokarna and Karwar sea beaches also famous for its seafood cuisine,temples and festivals.
Kudremukh and Mullayanagiri peak
Kudremukh is a mountain range and name of a peak located in Chikkamagaluru district and Mulayyanagiri is the highest peak in Karnataka state also located on the Western Ghats of Chikkamagaluru. The peaks and ranges are one of the largest wildlife protected area of the State of Karnataka.
Jog and Shivanasamudra falls
Jog Falls and Sivasamudram Falls are two of the most famous waterfalls in Karnataka and Joga Falls is the second- highest plunge waterfall in India. jog falls is in Shimoga . Sivasamudram Falls on the Kaveri River and near Mysore.
Mysore and Brindavan Gardens
Mysore is a very beautiful place which hosts a magnificient palace and Chamundi hills. You could also visit mysore zoo, waterfall and a near by bird sanctuary of ranganatittu and KRS or Bridavan gardens.
Nagarhole and Bandipur National parks
Nagarhole and Bandipur National Parks are two major wildlife protected area known for several species of India’s endangered wildlife.
temples near mangalore and Malpe beach
Udupi is most famous for Lord Krishna temple and Shringeri has a beautiful Sharada temple. You can also visit the near by famous temples of Dharmasthala, Kukke, Hornadu. It can be a religious trip and you also enjoy the scenic beauty and sports at Malpe beach Mangalore. If you extend the trip, you can also visit near by Sakaleshpur.
